Phone is Stuck on “Downloading… Do not turn off target“ Screen



Symptoms

  • Phone is stuck on “Downloading… Do not turn off target“ Screen

Environment

  • Samsung Galaxy J3

Resolution

  1. Simultaneously press and hold Power button + Home button + Volume Down button.
    • Make sure to press them down at the same time.
  2. Keep pressed until the screen goes black
  3. Release all buttons
  4. Your device should automatically reboot
    1. If your device doesn’t automatically reboot, press the power button yourself.

Cause

Instead of pressing Power button + Home button + Volume UP buttons at the same time when attempting to boot into Recovery Mode, Power button + Home button + Volume DOWN was pressed.

Additional Notes

This screen is also called the Download Mode screen.
