Why is it that the seemingly simple tasks always end up taking up the most of your time and causing you the most headaches?

Setting up a basic email signature from your iPhone can be a pretty straightforward process and most people can figure this task out on their own.

But, have you ever tried including an image in your signature, such as a logo or social media icons?

Some people are under the impression that if you set up a signature in your email client, you should be able to send an email to yourself, copy and paste into the signature window on your iPhone and then all is well and good.

You may think it looks great from your end and send your message, only to find out that your recipient sees broken images.

Sound familiar?

I know this has happened to me, and after spending countless hours sending myself messages between desktop and mobile, I finally found a solution that works.

Steps to Creating an iPhone Email Signature with Logo

1.) First, make sure your logos and/or social media icons are in .gif or .png format since these seem to come through with the most clarity.

Also, you want to make sure they are sized appropriately for an email (between 150 – 200px wide is a good size range for a logo, social media icons are typically between 25 – 35px wide).

2.) Upload your logo or images to your webserver and make note of the full URLs. They should look something like this: https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/uploads/your-logo.png.

Note that the images need to reside on a public web server that everyone has access to, not on an internal company or personal drive!

3.) Next, create an HTML document with your signature, making sure to include the font styles and full URLs to your logo and/or social media icons.
Tip: Use basic system fonts that everyone has installed on their system (Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif, for example). If you don’t specify a font, Outlook will default to using Times New Roman.

Don’t know HTML? Simply copy the code from the window below and paste into a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit, then save the file with an .html extension.

Make the appropriate changes to your signature, making sure to use the full public URLs of all your images, then save the file to your web server or shared location such as Dropbox or Google Drive and take note of the location.

4.) Navigate to the file location, open the file on your iPhone, then select and copy the whole signature, including the images.

5.) On your iPhone, tap on “Settings”, then “Mail”, then scroll down to “Signature”. If you wish to have more than one signature set up for your various email accounts, select “Per Account”. This should open up signature windows for every email account that you have set up on your iPhone.

6.) Tap on the window for the email account for which you want to set the signature and paste the signature that you copied from the HTML file into the window.

Next, shake your phone until the “Undo Change Attributes” window pops up, then click on “Undo”.

7.) Back out of the Settings window and that’s it – you’re all done! Your logo signature should be good to go. (Of course, it’s always a good idea to test!)

I tried the Spark workaround and am happy to report that it works. It's BS that Apple can't make this work on their own, but I'm glad we have a temporary solution.

    To recap:

    1) Download the Spark mail app

    2) Open the app, go to Settings, and create your signature in the Spark app

    3) Create a new email in the Spark app

    4) Copy the signature from the Spark email

    5) Go to your iPhone/iPad Settings -> Mail -> Signatures

    6) Paste in the signature you copied from Spark

    7) Shake your iPhone/iPad to undo the formatting change

    8) Go to the Apple mail app and open an email to confirm it worked

Voila, worked for me. Thanks to the person who found this. Get your act together, Apple!

I ended up using the recommendation from a few weeks ago about using the Spark App and it works.

At first I thought that every time I wrote an email I would have to paste the signature but this is not accurate.

Follow the last instructions for Spark. Sign up using any email and create the signature with the logo you want. Close out the Settings of Spark and create a new email. Copy THIS data and paste it into the signature of the Apple Mail settings.

In the Spark Settings, I set "San Francisco" font to 13 I believe so it was the same size as the Apple text.

Also, I have successfully done it without shaking to "Undo Attributes" .....

So just to confirm, I DO NOT have to paste the signature from Spark every time I create a new email. The image is there, it does not say "Null" or a blank box.

I'm not going to update this phone again until someone says this issue is fixed because I do not have any other issues!!!

I've spent hours chatting with Apple tech support about this issue for a new iPad Pro. They referenced remedies in this thread, but eventually told me the feature is not supported and suggested I try another email client.

    ***Please Read Carefully***

there is obviously something that has broken in iOS 13 regarding HTML signatures. Here is the fix for your mail app.

download Spark (you will be using this to create your signature only).
copy and paste the target signature into the spark app. You may or may not need to shake to undo attribute changes.
open a new email in spark and copy the signature that you just created from the new blank email.
paste the signature from the spark email into the signature for your iOS mail app via settings.
you can now delete spark and you should have a working signature. I literally just did this 5 minutes ago.

My HTML email signatures are created in an App Store App called "Email Signature Creator" and work fine with ios13. I did have some problems initially (which is how I found this thread), but after selecting "Load Remote Images" in iOS Mail settings, all worked perfectly normally (as per my comment near the very start of this thread). I'm not sure whether "Email Signature Creator" is doing something similar to what some users have found with "Spark", but I can definitely say that I have HTML signatures (a different one set for my three different email accounts) and they work exactly as expected in iOS13, including calling on remote images for logos, etc.
